Mowi Jøsnøya

On Jøsnøya outside Hitra, salmon giant Mowi has established a state-of-the-art slaughterhouse and warehouse with a total building area of approximately 20,000 m². The facility is built to meet increasing capacity and future needs in Norwegian salmon production, and marks one of the largest single projects in the aquaculture industry in recent years.

IPOA has supplied steel structures and blacksmithing for the project. With our experience from large and technically demanding industrial projects, we have helped to ensure a solid and functional framework for a facility that places high demands on hygiene, operational reliability and logistics.

A modern facility for the future

The slaughterhouse has the capacity to handle 100,000 tons of salmon annually, of which 25,000 tons are filleted on site. At the same time, a separate center has been established for remote control of feeding at Mowi's fish farming facilities from Nordmøre to Bindal. The location on Jøsnøya provides a short distance to both sea transport for raw materials and modern infrastructure for distribution.
