Freezer for Nils Sperre, Ellingsøy

On Ellingsøy outside Ålesund, Nils Sperre AS has acquired a new 5,000 m2 cold storage facility. The facility provides significantly increased capacity for storing pelagic fish and also serves as a warehouse for international customers, including in Asia. IPOA has supplied steel structures for the project as a subcontractor.

The freezer consists of 4,500 m² of freezer storage and 500 m² of anteroom and technical rooms. With a capacity for around 13,000 tons of frozen fish, the facility is in addition to existing warehouses and gives the company a total capacity that ensures both efficient operation and future growth.

The building is constructed with steel structures and sandwich elements, while the bridge connecting the new and old facilities has a steel truss as the load-bearing structure. Efficient construction methods, including fiber-reinforced concrete slabs and close cooperation between the contractor and the client, made it possible to complete the project in a short time.

For Nils Sperre AS, the development is a strategic investment of around NOK 100 million. The facility allows the company to handle large seasonal volumes without being dependent on rented cold storage facilities, while also offering storage services to both local and foreign players.

As part of the deliveries, IPOA contributed solid steel structures that laid the foundation for a building with high functionality, efficient logistics and future-oriented capacity.
