Coop Extra Røros

Coop Extra Røros

The new Coop Extra store in Røros has been built with clear adaptation to the architecture of the World Heritage Site and has become a landmark at the entrance to the city. With a floor area of 1,388 m², the building houses a modern grocery store with warehouse, cold and freezer rooms, technical rooms and social rooms for employees.

The building is built as a passive house and focuses on sustainable solutions. Excess heat from the cooling system is used for heating, and the entire store is equipped with LED lighting. The facade is clad in wood to harmonize with Røros' historic wooden house environment, and is based on both modern energy efficiency and local roots.

IPOA has delivered steel structures to the project , which constitute the load-bearing system in combination with sandwich elements and concrete ring walls. The delivery contributed to the realization of a technically demanding building that also places high demands on both functionality and aesthetics.

The project was developed by Coop Midt-Norge, with Consto Midt-Norge as the general contractor.
